Dell Computer
In partnership with VolunteerMatch, Dell employees have volunteered by the thousands.
One Dell. One Community.
Dell's International Volunteer Program
Dell, a leader in the computer industry, also provides a leading role in improving the communities where their employees live and work. Dell employees make a difference everyday by giving generously of their time, expertise and money. In 2000, Dell joined VolunteerMatch, the nonprofit dedicated to making it easier for anyone to find a rewarding way to volunteer, to help engage employees in community service throughout the United States.
Since then, Dell employees have responded to over 5,000 volunteer opportunities nationwide. This success, and global commitment to giving back, prompted a need for Dell to expand the reach of the VolunteerMatch Corporate service to employees worldwide. In 2003, Dell introduced VolunteerMatch to its Brazil employees.
Dell Brazil
VolunteerMatch provided Dell's Brazil employees with an online tool for recruiting and tracking volunteer activity, allowing employees to participate in Dell's annual Global Community Involvement Month. This month-long initiative ended with Cidadania @ Dell, an event where awards were presented to recognize the three Dell Brazil employees with the most volunteer hours tracked through VolunteerMatch.
Recipient of an award, Natasha Duarte, legal advisor, said, "It's heart warming to dedicate a part of our lives to do good, and VolunteerMatch is a great tool to do that."
The VolunteerMatch Corporate service has helped Dell's Brazil employees log nearly 1,000 volunteer hours, and currently provides nearly 70 opportunities, posted in both Portuguese and English, many of which focus on providing low-income youth with access to technology and computer education.
"VolunteerMatch is a great tool to manage volunteer activities in a professional and smart way," said Gleverton De Munno, corporate affairs senior manager.
Dell UK
Dell is continually expanding its international community involvement efforts, and in preparation for 2004's Global Community Involvement Month, introduced VolunteerMatch to employees in Bracknell, Great Britain. The Bracknell headquarters were quick to post over 200 volunteer opportunities, and employees signed up for a myriad of opportunities that ranged from heavy gardening and intensive habitat maintenance, to facilitating nursery school activities and running an Oxfam shop.
With the launch of the VolunteerMatch Corporate service in Brazil and the UK, Dell has been able to increase the visibility of and optimize participation in their annual Global Community Involvement Month. VolunteerMatch provides Dell employees with access to volunteer opportunities locally, yet all remain united as one team making a difference globally.
