Opportunity Overview

To begin recruiting volunteers for your organization, post a listing to the VolunteerMatch network. Your listing description should be as specific and as detailed as possible. This will ensure that you recruit the volunteers you need who have the skill-set and commitment level appropriate for the volunteer opportunity.

During the registration process, you will be prompted to create only one listing. However, you can post any number of listings before and after your organization has been registered and approved.

To post a listing to the VolunteerMatch network, you will need to enter the following information.

•	Opportunity Title

•	Description

•	Required Skills

•	Category of Interest (e.g., Children, Homeless & Housing, Animals)

•	Volunteer Profile (Great For Groups, Teens, 55+, Kids)

•	Minimum Age Requirement

•	Number of Volunteers Needed

•	Hourly Commitment Required by Volunteer

Opportunity Location

If your opportunity takes place at a specific location and volunteers need to be there in person, complete the following fields:

Country

If your volunteer opportunity can be completed from virtually anywhere (e.g., from a volunteer's home and via a phone, computer or fax), you can specify your opportunity as virtual.

Opportunity Event Date and Time

If your organization is looking to recruit volunteers for an event with a specific date and time range (e.g., Annual Beach Cleanup from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.), then specify these requirements in the appropriate fields. If you are looking to recruit volunteers for an ongoing project without a specific beginning or end, simply leave the date and time fields blank.

Listing Activation and Expiration

VolunteerMatch prides itself on new and updated opportunity listings. We require nonprofits to review their listings on a six month basis to ensure that all organization and opportunity information is still accurate. Before a listing expires, VolunteerMatch will send an email with instructions to postpone the expiration date. If you would prefer that the listing expire and no longer appear on VolunteerMatch after six months, no action is needed and the listing will expire.

Your listing's activation and expiration dates can be edited at any time. It is our policy, however, that the expiration date cannot exceed your opportunity's event end date or be more than 180 days from the activation date. Contact us at with any questions.
